Cobb's calendar highlights: upcoming events in the county

May-July

Throughout June and July, eight Cobb County Public Library locations will become centers for vision care, hosting Vision To Learn mobile clinics. Children ages 5-18 can undergo comprehensive eye exams and receive prescription glasses at no cost.

Reserve a spot for a Vision to Learn appointment now before the schedule fills up.

 

Wednesday, May 1

Learn to understand and improve your credit score at a class 6 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, at Switzer Library in Marietta. Learn more about the factors that contribute to your credit score and why they are important. The session, brought to you by the UGA Extension Office, can help you avoid mistakes that can keep you from getting approved for a loan. Switzer Library is located at 266 Roswell Street, Marietta.

Saturday, May 4

•Bring your appetite to the Taste of East Cobb! The free outdoor food festival showcases the best local restaurants and businesses 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, May 4 at 955 Johnson Ferry Road, Marietta.

Tuesday, May 7

Coping with the heartbreaking loss of a child due to violence is a journey that no parent should go through alone. 💔 Receive emotional support and educational resources 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 7 at the Cobb Family Advocacy Center, 277 Fairground St. SE, Marietta.

•Trail of the Month Club 1 - 3 p.m. at Discovery Park. Take an easy hike with the Natural Resources rangers.

Wine, dine, and everything will be fine at Wine Down Wednesday starting 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 15 at the Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre, 5239 Floyd Rd, Mableton. Doors open a 6 p.m. The concert begins at 7 p.m. Bring your own food or purchase at the venue. General seating is free.

Chairwoman Lisa Cupid will highlight Cobb's 2023 accomplishments as she delivers the 2024 Cobb State of the County Address, 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday, May 16.

Friday, May 17 

Rain Barrel Make and Take workshop, at Cobb Water education lunch & learn noon - 1 p.m. at 662 South Cobb Drive, Marietta. Workshops take place outside in our Wildlife & Rain Garden. In case of rain, the workshop will be moved indoors. Free. Cobb residents only. Registration required.  Lifetime limit of one barrel per household.
