May-July

Free eye exams  - Throughout June and July, eight Cobb County Public Library locations will become centers for vision care, hosting Vision To Learn mobile clinics. Children ages 5-18 can undergo comprehensive eye exams and receive prescription glasses at no cost.

Reserve a spot for a Vision to Learn appointment now before the schedule fills up.

Advance Voting Through May 17

Advance Voting is underway for the May 21 General Primary/Nonpartisan Election.  Click here for more information about in-person advance voting and locations.

• Festival season is here! May-Retta Daze Saturday 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. and Sunday May 5, 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Marietta Square. Art, food, music and fun. Click here for all the details.

Bring your appetite to the Taste of East Cobb! The free outdoor food festival showcases the best local restaurants and businesses 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. Saturday, May 4, at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church, 955 Johnson Ferry Road, Marietta. More information here.

• An Evening of Soul: Will Downing and Chrisette Michele perform 8 p.m. Saturday, May 4. Doors open at 7 p.m. Get tickets, tables, and parking here: Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre, 5239 Floyd Road, Mableton. 

• 🐉🚣‍♂️ Dive into the adrenaline-pumping world of dragon boat racing 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, May 4 at Dallas Landing Park, 5120 Allatoona Drive, Acworth. Read more about the food, fun, and activities here.

• Geek out on May the fourth be with you/Star Wars Day at free, family-friendly space wizard programs at two Cobb County libraries.

✨ Vinings Library, 4290 Paces Ferry Road, Atlanta, will host a screening of the beloved Ewok film "Return of the Jedi" at 1 p.m. in its program room.
✨ The South Cobb Regional Library, 805 Clay Road, Mableton, will feature a Star Wars-themed storytime with crafts and activities at 2 p.m.

Coping with the heartbreaking loss of a child due to violence is a journey that no parent should go through alone. 💔 Receive emotional support and educational resources 6:30 - 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 7 at the Cobb Family Advocacy Center, 277 Fairground St. SE, Marietta. More information and resources here.

• Trail of the Month Club is meeting  1 - 3 p.m. at Discovery Park, 6653 Discovery Blvd. Take an easy hike with the Natural Resources rangers.

• An Evening of Funk: Confunkshun, Atlantic Starr, The Original Lakeside

Wednesday, May 15

Wine, dine, and everything will be fine at Wine Down Wednesdays at the Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre, 5239 Floyd Rd, Mableton.  On May 15, treat yourself to some fine country tunes starting at 7 p.m. featuring Homegrown - the Zac Brown Band Experience. The concert begins at 7 p.m. Bring your own food or purchase at the venue. General seating is free.

Look forward to monthly free concerts June 12, July 17, Aug. 14, Sept. 18 and Oct. 9. Doors open a 6 p.m.

Rain Barrel Make and Take workshop, at Cobb Water education lunch & learn noon - 1 p.m. at 662 South Cobb Drive, Marietta. Workshops take place outside in our Wildlife & Rain Garden.  Free. Cobb residents only. Registration is required here.

Memorial Day Ceremonies

• Memorial Day is a solemn time when we remember and honor those who died while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. Pay your respects at noon Monday, May 27 at the Marietta National Cemetery, 500 Washington Ave NE. More information here.

• Powder Springs Memorial Day Ceremony: noon at the Veteran's Memorial in front of the Powder Springs Library, 4181 Atlanta St.  More information here.

• Smyrna Memorial Day Ceremony: 9:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial next to City Hall, 2800 King St SE, Smyrna. More information here.

• Acworth Memorial Day Ceremony: 10 a.m.-11 a.m. at Cauble Park at Patriots Point, 4425 Beach St, Acworth. More information here.
