Camp Horizon is a highly mobile indoor and outdoor camp for children and young adults 7-21 years old with developmental delays, mental and/or physical disabilities. We strive for each camper to function at his or her highest level of ability in the least restrictive environment possible. Group staff to camper ratios will be 1:3 not to exceed 1:12, dependent upon assessment of each groups’ needs. We place the campers in groups to ensure that all of our campers feel comfortable and can participate at a similar pace with the rest of their group. Activities include arts and crafts, nature, music, drama, sports and games, swimming, pet therapy, and dance. We are not able to accept campers who require one-to-one care. New campers require a preregistration assessment. Appointments available during weekdays until 5pm. To schedule an appointment, contact Ann Bonds at 770-528-2570. Registration for Camp Horizon is now open.
Art camps will be held at each of Cobb's art centers - The Art Station - Big Shanty, The Art Place - Mountain View, The Mable House Arts Center and the Sewell Mill Cultural Center. Campers will create and have fun during their camp experience.
Tennis camps are offered at PARKS' six tennis centers. Registration will begin soon at each center and registration is currently in progress at Harrison Tennis Center. Information will be available soon for Kennworth Tennis Center and Terrell Mill Tennis Center. The tennis camps are directed by our teaching professionals at each center. This is a great opportunity for juniors to learn the game and improve their skills. For information and registration for Harrison (website), Kennworth (call 770-917-5160) and Terrell Mill (website), see their respective websites. For the other tennis centers, please call them directly.
Our Natural Resources unit will offer a nature camp the week of June 12-16 at Hyde Farm for rising third through fifth graders. It will be a half day camp from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. and will focus on nature and outdoor activities. The fee is $65 and registration begins 8 a.m. March 8. This camp is limited to 25 campers.
