At this week's Board of Commissioners meeting, I was honored to recognize some amazing high school students in our community. Seven Cobb County students, representing South Cobb, Harrison, Wheeler, Walton and Allatoona high schools, competed in the inaugural class of the Harvard Debate Council Diversity Project. Along with other brilliant students from around the metro area, the "Great Debaters" made history at the Harvard Debate Council tournament this summer. Teams competed against youth from around the world, including Asia, Russia and Europe. Ten of the 12 Atlanta teams advanced to the octo-finals, six went on to the quarterfinals and two teams competed in the semi-finals. I am extremely proud of these bright, young stars!
