Board approves Strategic Plan for the county
Cobb's Board of Commissioners formally approved a five-year Strategic Plan Tuesday night, outlining priorities, strategies, and themes to guide the county over the next five years. The document, formulated after extensive public outreach, stakeholder collaboration, and internal discussion, focuses on eight primary outcome areas.
These areas include:
- Community Development
- Economic Development
- Effective and Efficient Government
- Housing and Livability
- Infrastructure
- Mobility and Transportation
- Public Safety
- Quality of Life
Chairwoman Lisa Cupid commended County Manager Dr. Jackie McMorris during the board meeting for starting the initiative.
"We need a game plan," the Chairwoman said. "We can't just all be doing our things, and we can't just be firefighting. We've got to be strategic on how we serve this county, and this (plan) is a big step toward doing that in Cobb."
Commissioner Monique Sheffield echoed the Chairwoman's comments. "To have a plan in place will move the county forward and put us on a better trajectory to reach the goals we have, not just as a board but for the citizens whose input helped develop this plan," the commissioner said.
