The Captioned Telephone, or CapTel, works like any other telephone with one important addition: It displays every word the caller says throughout the conversation. People who have difficulty hearing over the phone are eligible to receive a CapTel phone at no cost. This program is available at no cost to the user for people with hearing loss under Title IV of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
