Sensory Friendly Movie Mondays

Join Accessibility Services on Mondays at 11am for a sensory friendly movie experience for adults (18+) with special needs. The lights will be dimmed, closed captions displayed, and fidget activities are provided. Movies will be shown in the Switzer Library Community Room; doors open at 10:45am. Registration is required.

Maximum capacity for each movie showing is limited to 40 patrons to provide the most sensory friendly experience possible.
Due to the limited capacity, walk-ins are not guaranteed program entry.

*The department reserves the right to change/cancel the event due to holidays, other library events, or unforeseen circumstances. This change will be reflected on the Events page and via email as soon as possible.

September 2: No Movie

September 9:  Matilda (1996): An intelligent little girl who is neglected by her parents discovers that she has telekinetic powers. Not until a teacher shows her kindness for the first time does she realize that she can use those powers to do something about her sufferings and help her friends as well. Rating: PG | Runtime: 98 minutes

September 16: The Book Thief (2013): A young girl moves in with foster parents in Nazi Germany and shares her love of books she's stolen along the way with the Jewish man who has sought refuge in her new home. Rating: PG-13 | Runtime: 131 minutes

September 23: The Pagemaster (1994): After seeking shelter from a storm in a mysterious library, an easily terrified kid is transported to an animated fantasy world. There, he encounters characters and situations from classic literature. Rating: G | Runtime: 76 minutes

September 30: Beauty and the Beast (1991): Superlative Oscar-nominated animated musical about the romance between a French belle who sacrifices her happiness to save her father and a prince who's been hideously transformed by a magic spell, which can only be broken by finding his true love. Rating: G | Runtime: 85 minutes
