Comfort Recovery Quilt Exhibit Celebration!

Saturday, 9/21/2024 - Saturday, 9/21/2024
03:00pm - 04:30pm

Join us at North Cobb Regional Library on Saturday, September 21st at 3:30pm to celebrate Cobb Libraries partnership with GPLS , Rise2REcovery, and the Michael C. Carlos Museum to feature the "Comfort of Recovery Quilt" exhibition!

Inspired by a vision to merge art and recovery, Alexia Jones, founder of R2ISE, embarked on a journey to create a tangible representation of healing. The quilt, adorned with a tree motif, symbolizes the seasons of change and interconnectedness of the recovery community. With 100 people and 200 hands contributing, its creation has united individuals of all ages, genders, races and backgrounds, fostering healing and support.

The Carlos partnered with an addiction recovery and mental wellness organization that uses the performing and creative arts to help those in need, Rise2Recovery, for the making of a quilt that serves as a demonstration and illustration of recovery. The quilt, “The Comfort of Recovery,” has been displayed at Emory Hospital, the Carter Center, and the Governor’s Office and will be on exhibit at North Cobb from September 18-October 31st.

From its inception, the quilt has traveled across the region sparking awareness and fostering new conversations about recovery. Displayed in various locations such as the Governor’s Office and medical schools, it serves as a beacon of hope and solidarity.

Light refreshments will be served. No registration needed.
