Songwriters’ Circle
Songwriters' Circle aims to create a supportive community space for sharing original songwriting and fostering connections among participants. It differs from open mic events by exclusively featuring original works, with a focus on complete songs, incomplete compositions, and song lyrics. The facilitator will encourage participation, but not provide formal instruction, maintaining a community-focused atmosphere.
Participants are encouraged to bring their equipment, although basic supplies will be provided. The program accommodates individual performers primarily, with limited setup and breakdown time to respect the venue's quiet environment. Constructive feedback is offered but not mandatory, emphasizing kindness and support for artistic growth. While the facilitator may offer insights into musical composition theory upon request, the program assumes some prior knowledge.
The program is tailored for adults, allowing for mature themes and language within reasonable bounds. The inclusion of discussion sessions on pre-existing works aims to deepen understanding of musical and lyrical composition, incorporating both facilitator-selected and patron-suggested materials. Discussions will take a Socratic approach, fostering diverse perspectives and engagement.
