Cobb County International Airport's new customs inspection facility began operations on June 25, 2015.
The first international flight to use the new facility landed just after 1 p.m and was from Nassau, Bahamas.
The new customs inspection facility is a first for the Atlanta area. It makes Cobb County International Airport the area's first general aviation airport to offer on-site U.S. customs inspection and staff, making customs services available immediately after landing.
The $800,000 facility broke ground in September 2014, along with the airport's new air traffic control tower. Together, the projects celebrated a joint ribbon-cutting on June 11, 2015.
