Register now for disaster awareness workshops

(Marietta, Ga., June 22) Cobb County Emergency Management Agency staff will host two free Natural Disaster workshops in July for community leaders and senior caregivers. Both are encouraged to register.

The first four-hour course, taught by Cobb EMA staff, will provide community leaders with an understanding of the necessary plans and tools needed to prepare for natural disasters. The training is 8 a.m.-noon, Tuesday, July 12. Participants will be able to identify and define the roles and responsibilities expected of them to assume during a natural disaster.

Cobb EMA staff will also teach senior caregivers how to prepare for natural disasters. The four-hour course is designed to enhance the caregiver's awareness of vulnerability factors associated with senior citizens, who are particularly susceptible to natural hazards. The training is 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.,Tuesday, July 12. Participants will learn how to identify, prepare for and perform many support activities that help ensure the safety and security of seniors when a natural hazard occurs.
