Carletta Sims, a Cobb County resident for more than 20 years, earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Management from Fisk University, in Nashville, TN and her Juris Doctorate degree from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI.
Appointed as a Part-time Magistrate in 2016, Judge Sims also operates a full-service law firm, Carletta Sims, LLC, where she handles in personal injury, family law, estate planning, probate, and general litigation matters. She enjoys presenting continuing education and community workshops on estate planning, navigating the legal system and personal development. During her career Judge Sims has served as a Staff Attorney with the Cobb County Attorney’s Office, Union City Solicitor, Special Assistant Attorney General for the State Attorney General representing the Georgia Department of Children Services and as a Senior Attorney with the Georgia Public Defender’s Standards Council.
Her professional memberships include being a member in the Georgia Bar Association, the Cobb County Bar Association, the Northwest Georgia Bar Association and the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys. Her community involvement includes having served as a board member for the Cobb YWCA and the Cobb County Boys and Girls Club. She is currently a life member Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., active in Cobb’s Rho Zeta Omega Chapter, and a member of the Cobb County Branches of the NAACP and SCLC and the Booker Clark Chapter of the National Council of Negro Women. She serves as Trustee and usher of her church, and enjoys strong ties with her family and the Fisk University Alumnae Association.
