Judicial Administrative Specialist
Presiding Judge Jeffrey D. Hamby was born in 1960 in San Diego, California. The son of a Navy Serviceman, Judge Hamby moved from state to state, finally settling in Cobb County at the age of 12. He attended County County Public Schools, graduating from John McEachern High School in 1978. Judge Hamby earned his B.S. degree in Political Science in 1982 and in the fall of that year, joined the founding class of Georgia State University’s College of Law. He received his Juris Doctor degree in May of 1985.
For over 27 years, Judge Hamby practiced law in Cobb County, concentrating in the areas of family law and domestic relations. He represented parties in divorce and custody actions, mediated and arbitrated domestic and civil matters, and served the courts as the Court Appointed Guardian Ad Litem (Representing the interests of children subjected to custody litigation).
Judge Hamby was unanimously elected by the Cobb County Superior Court Judges in October of 2012 and he took the Juvenile Court bench on January 1, 2013.
