Fire engine given to help Sandy relief

The Board of Commissioners recently approved the donation of a surplused fire engine to the West Hamilton Beach Volunteer Fire Department, which lost its equipment during Hurricane Sandy. After losing its fire engine, the New York department did not have an operating truck to respond to calls. Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services made the donation in partnership with the state chapter of the Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund, a philanthropic organization to assist fire departments.
