Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)

CDBG was created in 1974 and is authorized under Title I of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974.  CDBG funds support projects aimed at serving the needs of low and moderate income Cobb County residents.  CBDG funds have been used in the past to build or renovate buildings, to support operating costs for local non-profit agencies, and microenterprise (employment/entrepreneurial training) activities.  Funds must be used to benefit low and moderate income persons which can include presumed low and moderate income persons such as elderly persons, homeless persons, disabled adults, abused children, battered persons, illiterate adults, persons living with AIDS, and migrant farm workers.
