Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG)

The Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) is a formula grant authorized by the HEARTH Act of 2009. The primary objective of the ESG Program is to assist people in quickly regaining stability in permanent housing after experiencing a housing crisis and/or homelessness.  The ESG program provides assistance to non-profits operating emergency shelters.  ESG funds can be used to operate shelter facilities, provide essential social services such as transportation, and provide homelessness prevention and rapid re-housing assistance.
