Tenant complaints in unincorperated Cobb County may be filed with the Housing Complaints & Nuisance Abatement Division in written form, including:
- The tenant's contact information (name, address, phone number, Apt number, building number),
- The landlord's contact information (name, address, phone number), and
- A detailed list of the items the tenant wants inspected.
- The letter must be signed by the tenant.
The case is initiated with a written complaint from the tenant. You must also send a copy to the landlord.
Each complaint is evaluated in the order received. Shortly after submittal, a nuisance abatement officer will be in contact with the tenant to schedule and inspection. If the officer determines that violations are present, a violation letter will be sent to both the tenant and landord. The remedy of violation must be started within 30-days and met within 45-days of issuance. If the corrections are failed to be made, the case may be sent to the Cobb County Attorney for court action.
Cosmetic complaints will be automatically dismissed. Rental homes must be in compliance with the code for the year in which the building was built. All rental homes must remain in compliance with the Property Maintenance Code and Georgia State Amendments.
