SunTrust Park already positively impacting our economy

SunTrust Park and The Battery have only been open for a few months, but our economy continues to reap the benefits of having these great facilities in Cobb. A recent report shows a significant increase in the county's drink tax and hotel motel tax revenues, which can be attributed to a “Braves bump.” From February 2016 to February 2017, drink tax revenue decreased by almost 8 percent. However once SunTrust Park and The Battery were open, Cobb's drink tax revenue increased almost 11 percent from April 2016 to April 2017 and more than 13 percent from May 2016 to May 2017. The same trend holds true for the hotel tax. From February 2016 to February 2017, hotel tax revenue only increased about 2 percent. But, from March 2016 to March 2017, revenues increased almost 10 percent and from April 2016 to April 2017, revenues increased more than 10 percent.
