Beginning Monday, Jan. 30, 2017, the eastbound travel lanes on Windy Hill Road at the I-75 overpass will shift further right along the south side of the bridge as crews barricade the center of the roadway for construction of walls and sidewalk.
Total estimated cost for these projects is over $48 M.
Projects E4030, E4020 and D4230 were advertised for construction bids on July 18, 2014. Bids were opened on Sept. 11, 2014. CMES, Inc. was the low bidder at $15,176,755.02 for projects E4030, E4020 and D4230. Construction began in late October 2014. Construction duration will be 24 months.
This existing 5-lane section of roadway has a center left turn lane with a high accident rate. Traffic crashes in this section have increased as motorists attempt to cut in and across the two way center left turn lane. This project will add a median and an additional west and east bound lane. Existing sidewalks will be replaced.
