The turf is down, parking maps are published and Cobb County is quickly wrapping up all outstanding projects to be ready for opening day, April 14!
This week, our information services technicians installed all the equipment and technology for the In Game Operations Center where traffic management, emergency management services and all security will be managed in real time.
For evening BOC meetings, we have permanently moved our Board of Commissioners Work Sessions to Mondays at 1:30 p.m. prior to the evening meeting. Agenda Work Sessions continue to be at 9:00 a.m. for both the morning and evening meetings. The change gives us a longer lead time to act on feedback on items presented at the work session.
At Monday’s work session we will be discussing updates to the county’s nepotism policy as well as the new CobbLinc Route 10x plan. The route will create faster, more direct transit service between Kennesaw State University and downtown Atlanta. The current CobbLinc Route 10 has the highest ridership in the CobbLinc system. The majority of the funding comes from a Federal grant for congestion mitigation and air quality.
We are less than 50 days from Opening Day at SunTrust Park. The commissioners and staff are rapidly finalizing all projects in our partnership with the Braves.
The Cobb County Police Department, in collaboration with the Cobb County Department of Transportation and other partners, has developed this traffic management plan (TMP) for events at SunTrust Park, with the following guiding principles:
Provide for safe, efficient vehicular and pedestrian arrival and departure;
Minimize traffic impacts to nearby neighborhoods, businesses and daily commuters;
Leverage extensive thoroughfare network which provides 14 points of access, including two interstates; and
Leverage the County's Advanced Transportation Management System (ATMS).
