2030 Comprehensive Plan

The Cobb County Comprehensive Plan, 2030 Comprehensive Plan: Mapping Cobb’s Future does not serve as a development ordinance, but rather as a growth management guide for unincorporated areas of the county. The plan is separated into two documents, per Georgia Department of Community Affairs standards, the Community Assessment [PDF] and the Community Agenda. The Community Assessment is the data assessment, preliminary analysis, and public participation schedule for the Comprehensive Plan. The Community Agenda  contains the vision, goals, policies, and implementation program portion of the Comprehensive Plan. The Community Agenda is updated annually with minor amendments.

Vinings Vision Plan

Study Overview

In March 2011, the Cobb County Board of Commissioners directed the Community Development Planning Division to create a master plan for Vinings. The Vinings Vision Plan looked to address a variety of uses including land use, transportation and community character & improvement.

Urban Land Institute - Technical Assistance Program (Mableton)

Study Overview

Advisory Services and Recommendations for the South Cobb Redevelopment Authority and the Atlanta Regional Commission through its Lifelong Mableton Initiative to attract investment and development of property located in the center of Mableton in accordance with the Lifelong Communities Plan and Cobb County's redevelopment objectives for the Mableton area.

Johnson Ferry Road Urban Design Study

Study Overview

In February of 2010, the Board of Commissioner authorized the Community Development Agency to develop the Johnson Ferry Urban Design Plan as a result of growing concerns for this major commercial and residential corridor.

Powers Ferry Corridor Study

Study Overview

In February of 2009 District 2 Commissioner Bob Ott along with the other Board of Commissioners authorized the Community Development Agency to develop a corridor study for a section of Powers Ferry Road.

Cumberland CID Master Plan

Project Update

Due to the recent announcement of the Atlanta Braves relocation, Cobb County and the Cumberland Community Improvement District have decided to put the current CCID Master Plan project on hold.

Mableton LCI 5 Year Update

Study Overview

The Livable Centers Initiative (LCI) is a program created by the Atlanta Regional Commission that encourages local governments to create plans that link transportation improvements with land use development strategies to create mixed use communities consistent with regional development policies.

River Line Master Plan

Study Overview

Cobb County Community Development and EDAW, Inc have conducted meetings with residence and stakeholders of southeastern Cobb County. In total, the county has conducted five public meetings and two public information meetings as part of this planning process. We would like to thank all who have participated and provided us input in this planning process.

Macland Road Corridor Study


In January of 2007, at the Board of Commissioners Management Retreat, there were discussions concerning the need to be proactive regarding development on Macland Road. Macland Road is a less developed corridor that serves as a major east-west transportation route for residents of western Cobb County and Paulding County.

Mableton Pkwy & Veterans Memorial Hwy Design Guidelines

The mableton parkway and Veterans Memorial Highway design guideline goal is to develop road way and architectural standards that can be used during the land entitlement process to assist areas of the county in improving visual appeal, integrating historic features, and providing guidance to place making initiatives.

The purpose of the guidelines is to assist staff, architects, engineers, landscape architects, planners, developers, and the community to allow each disparate group to make informed design decisions for private developments and public facility investments.
