For some in Cobb County, a daily commute could eventually be shorter, and they could leave their car at home.  That's one of the scenarios Cobb DOT Director Drew Raessler pointed out to the Board of Commissioners as he outlined what the passage of a Mobility SPLOST could mean.

Raessler's update covered the options that voters could be presented with during the November 2024 election.  The "MSPLOST" was authorized by legislative action, allowing the board to commit to a one-cent sales tax for up to 30 years.

Commissioners offered differing opinions on how long this MSPLOST should last (it could go for as long as 30 years or any shorter period) and what type of projects should be included.

Raessler says a robust public engagement plan will get further input from residents before a final project list is submitted to the board.
