Cobb County Enhances Cyber Preparedness with Regional Cybersecurity Exercise

May 30, 2024 - Cobb County Government Information Technology Services, Emergency Management Agency, and 911 Emergency Communications members recently participated in a regional cybersecurity tabletop exercise to enhance cyber preparedness and response capabilities. The event, hosted by the Atlanta Regional Commission and the Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI), convened key stakeholders from the City of Atlanta and Clayton, Cobb, Dekalb, Fulton, and Gwinnett Counties to simulate and respond to a range of cyber threats impacting the region.

This collaborative event provided a valuable opportunity for metro Atlanta area governments to refine their skills, share best practices, and strengthen relationships as regional cybersecurity partners.

Kimberly Lemley, Cobb County’s Chief Information Officer, emphasized the importance of the county's participation: “Cobb County’s involvement in this tabletop exercise underscores our commitment to maintaining robust cybersecurity measures and staying vigilant against potential threats. The experience and connections gained from this exercise are instrumental in enhancing our incident response strategies and protecting our county’s infrastructure and data. We are fortunate to have this partnership with UASI and to participate in these collaborative events with our neighboring agencies, which promote cross-organizational collaboration and preparedness.”

By engaging in such exercises, Cobb County and its regional partners are better equipped to address and mitigate cyber threats, ensuring the security and resilience of the metro’s digital infrastructure.
