Solicitor General Metzger appoints New Chief Deputy Assistant Solicitor-General Kenneth Mitchell, Jr.

It is a pleasure to announce that Kenneth Mitchell, Jr. has joined the Office of the Cobb County Solicitor General ("Office") as its new Chief Deputy Assistant Solicitor-General. Kenneth is an experienced trial attorney with a passion for criminal law and a strong dedication to justice for the community.

Kenneth brings a wealth of prosecutorial and litigation experience to the team. He began his legal career with the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office in Atlanta, where he served for five years. During his tenure, Kenneth was assigned to several key divisions, including the Juvenile Division, Complex Trial Division, Crimes Against Women and Children Division, Gang Division, and Major Case Division. He successfully tried over twenty cases, including complex homicides and high-profile cases, earning the title of Attorney of the Year for his division in 2017, 2018, and 2019.

Following his time as a prosecutor, Kenneth transitioned to criminal defense, working at Johnson and Freeman, LLC, and Giddens, Mitchell, & Associates, P.C. He defended clients in misdemeanors and felonies across Trial and Appellate Courts in Georgia, representing over one hundred clients in various legal proceedings. His extensive experience also includes representing businesses and governmental entities, further demonstrating his versatility and legal acumen.

Kenneth's commitment to the legal community extends beyond his courtroom achievements. He currently serves as the President-elect of the State Bar of Georgia Young Lawyers Division and is an active member of the Gate City Bar Association, Atlanta Bar Association, and Atlanta Council of Younger Lawyers. These roles have enabled him to grow as an attorney, serve the community, and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
