2ND UPDATE
The suspect in this bank robbery has succumbed to his injuries.
1ST UPDATE
On November 20, 2018 at approximately 6:15 a.m. Cobb County Police Detectives along with Marietta Police Detectives and Cobb County Police SWAT were attempting to serve a search warrant at 3065 Wayward Drive in Marietta. While at the residence they located an individual with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The individual was transported to Kennestone Hospital and currently is in critical condition. This individual is suspected of the below bank robbery as well as a similar bank robbery within the City of Marietta. Detectives were able to identify this suspect due to tips made to our respective departments from the public.
ORIGINAL RELEASE
On June 22, 2018 at 2:12 p.m. Cobb County Police uniform patrol officers responded to a bank robbery at the Wells Fargo Bank at 2687 Sandy Plains Road. The white male suspect handed a teller a demand note and was given an undisclosed amount of cash. He left the scene on foot. The circumstances and description of this case are similar to a more recent case (October 31, 2018) in the City of Marietta in which a similarly described suspect robbed another bank not far from this location.
