On November 22, 2018, at approximately 8:15 p.m., Cobb County Police officers responded to a report of a male carrying a firearm in a backpack at 2860 Cumberland Mall, Atlanta, GA 30339 (Cumberland Mall).

Mall security was notified by a concerned patron that a male was carrying a firearm in a backpack inside the mall.  Uniform officers made contact with the male in question and it was later discovered that he did not possess a weapon permit.

The male, identified as 23-year-old Lecarl Weems, was placed under arrest at that time and charged with Possessing or Carrying a Handgun or Long Gun-First Offense.
