Cobb County Police Department is pleased to announce it has received a $325,081.69 grant from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS). These funds will support the Highway Enforcement of Aggressive Traffic (H.E.A.T.) program.

“The Cobb County Police Department is a returning grantee and we’re grateful for their commitment to make their roads safer,” GOHS Director Harris Blackwood said. “We’re excited to see what 2019 holds.”

The grant will help finance a specialized task force to combat impaired driving, speeding, and aggressive driving in Cobb County in order to improve highway safety. The H.E.A.T. Unit will participate in traffic safety campaigns such as Click-It or Ticket, Operation Zero Tolerance, 100 Days of Summer Heat, and Rolling Thunder Mobilizations throughout Georgia.

The Cobb County Police H.E.A.T. Unit is dedicated to enforcing DUI laws and targeting aggressive and distracted drivers throughout Cobb County. We are extremely appreciative of the support from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety for supporting our mission of keeping our community safe.

The grant year for this award will be October 1 of 2018 to September 30 of 2019.
