Aggravated Assault/Aggravated Battery (Double Shooting)

The victim, 21-year old Jake Allen Horne, succumbed to his injuries. The Cobb County Department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit will be working with the District Attorney’s Office to upgrade the offense appropriately.

 The Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit is investigating an aggravated assault/aggravated battery that occurred on March 6th , 2019 at 2:25 p.m. at 1963 Wellington Lane, Marietta, Georgia.

Per investigators, officers from Cobb County Police Department’s Precinct 4 responded to Wellington Lane to discover the victim, 37-year-old Gordon Montcalm of Buchanan, GA suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The officers were then directed to 1963 Wellington Lane where they discovered a second victim, 21-year-old Jake Allen Horne of Marietta, GA suffering from a gunshot wound to his head. Both victims were transported to Kennestone Hospital in serious condition. The victims had been at 1963 Wellington Lane to complete some electrical work for the homeowner.

68-year-old Larry Joel Epstein, resident of 1963 Wellington Lane, shot Gordon Montcalm and Jake Allen Horne as they attempted to leave his home after completing their work day. Larry Joel Epstein was charged with Aggravated Assault and Aggravated Battery and is currently being held without bond at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.
