Senior Services and Meals On Wheels

Senior Services Volunteer Opportunities include delivering for Meals on Wheels, giving presentations on topics relevant to seniors, and helping at one of Cobb's senior centers.

Through the Meals on Wheels program, Cobb County provides a nutritionally balanced meal to qualifying homebound older adults within the county.  Some clients who are in greater need may qualify for additional meals for dinner or weekends.  Meals are delivered five days per week by our dedicated and trained volunteers to the client’s door.
Menus are planned and prepared under the supervision of a registered dietitian and are designed to provide one-third of an adult’s daily nutritional requirements.  Clients who have difficulty adequately feeding their cat or dog may receive supplemental pet food at no charge.

In order to be eligible for Meals on Wheels a person must reside in Cobb County, be at least 60 years of age and have a physical or mental disability that prevents him or her from preparing meals on a daily basis.  All clients are assessed through our Care Management team and cost is determined by household income on a sliding scale.  No client is denied services due to inability to pay.

For more information on receiving meals, contact (770) 528-5364. For more information on volunteering, contact (770) 528-5381.

Metro Atlanta Fire Officers Association

We use a combination of nationally renowned instructors as well as local and regional talent. Training of this caliber at other national conferences can cost a firefighter between $1500.00-$2000.00 for the same classes. We accomplish all of this on a budget of under $50,000.00 and with an all volunteer workforce. We support the conference primarily through sponsorships and donations.

In light of today’s economic pressures, most fire departments do not have the budget to host an educational experience such as MAFFC. We are providing invaluable training giving responders the knowledge, skills and abilities to better serve their communities. The success of our conference depends on the generosity of our community.

Police Chaplain's Fund

We provide emotional support for police officers and civilian personnel during times of need. We have attended funerals and funeral homes, visited hospitals and homes during times of illness, provided gifts to show encouragement during extended hospital stays. Chaplains offer counseling and have helped several with spiritual needs. We have provided training for Chaplains and support personnel. All activities are directed toward the care of officers in times of need. Most of the Chaplains' time is donated to the care of officers in times of need. We raise money to increase the benevolence funds to help provide financial support to officers and families in times of crises. We have broadened our benevolence to offer assistance with education by scholarship assistance. Volunteer clergy and department members help with all activities.
