The Cobb County Police Department’s Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Unit is investigating a fatal pedestrian hit and run that occurred on May 25, 2019 at 9:34 p.m. on South Cobb Drive just north of the Pat Mell Road intersection.

Per investigators, a white pickup truck towing a white enclosed trailer was traveling south on South Cobb Drive (SR-280). An unidentified male was attempting to cross South Cobb Drive and collided with the enclosed trailer in the southbound lanes of South Cobb Drive. The collision caused serious injuries to the male who was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The truck and trailer continued south on South Cobb Drive without stopping.

At this time, investigators do not have an identification for the male. Witnesses described the truck as possibly an early 2000’s Chevrolet two door pickup with a white enclosed cargo trailer.
