Serious Injury Motorcycle Collision ( June 14, 2019)

The Cobb County Police Department’s Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (S.T.E.P.) Unit is investigating a serious injury motorcycle collision which occurred on June 13, 2019 at 9:31 p.m. on Bells Ferry Road at Shallowford Road.

Per investigators, a red 1999 Harley Davidson XL1200 motorcycle was disabled and stopped in the left northbound lane of Bells Ferry Road just south of Shallowford Road. A silver 2005 Toyota Sienna was approaching the motorcycle from behind. The front of the Toyota collided with the rear of the Harley Davidson and ejected the operator into the roadway. As the motorcycle operator was ejected, a second northbound vehicle ran over the motorcyclist causing serious injuries to him. The second vehicle stopped for a moment, and then left the scene.

The operator of the Harley Davidson was identified as 25-year-old Dylan J. Threewitt of Canton. He was transported by ambulance to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital with critical injuries. A passenger on the motorcycle was identified as 25-year-old Kayli G. McGaha of Marietta and was transported by ambulance to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Toyota was identified as 58-year-old Rye Pak of Acworth and was not injured in the collision.

Witnesses described the second vehicle as a small dark colored Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV). Investigators are requesting anyone with information about this hit and run vehicle to contact the Cobb County Police Department’s S.T.E.P. Unit at 770-499-3987.
