UPDATE – Fatal Pedestrian Collision

Next of kin has been notified. The pedestrian was identified as 58-year-old Tomas Hernandez-Vazquez of Marietta.

Fatal Pedestrian Collision

The Cobb County Police Department Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Unit is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred in Precinct Three on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at 10:41 p.m. on Smyrna Powder Springs Road near Timber Creek Lane.

Per investigators, an adult male pedestrian was crawling along the edge of the roadway. The male was struck by a vehicle traveling east on Smyrna Powder Springs Road. The vehicle left the scene after the collision.

The male was transported by ambulance to Kennestone Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Next of kin has not yet been notified.

The vehicle that left the scene is possibly a newer model Honda Civic.

The collision remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact the Cobb County Police Department at 770-499-3987.
