Homicide

On Thursday, July 4, 2019 at approximately 11:06 p.m. Cobb County Police Department uniform officers from Precinct Two were dispatched to 3865 Sanders Road in reference to a male who had been shot. Upon arrival, officers attempted to provide first aid to the male but determined he was deceased.

Witnesses stated that the male was attacking family members. The family members tried to intervene but were unsuccessful. The male began strangling his 65-year-old father. The father felt that his son was going to kill him. One of the subjects inside the home believed the only way to save the father was to shoot the son.

The father was identified as 65-year-old Jimmie Brown.

The deceased was identified as 45-year-old Damon Brown.

The shooter was identified as 31-year-old Jeremy Buchanan.

The incident remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact the Cobb County Police Department Crimes Against Persons Unit at 770-499-3945.
