The Cobb County Police Department Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Unit is investigating a collision that resulted in a delayed fatality. The collision occurred in Precinct Two on Sunday, July 7, 2019 at 8:54 p.m. on Hicks Road at Hurt Road.

Per investigators, a white 2019 Chevrolet van turned left from Hicks Road onto Hurt Road. The Chevrolet turned left in front of a white 2013 Ford F-150. The vehicles collided in the intersection.

The driver of the Chevrolet was identified as 23-year-old Danielle M. Lawson of Powder Springs.

The driver of the Ford was identified as 37-year-old Jose L. Torres-Galicia of Marietta.

Neither driver reported any injuries at the time of the accident.

On July 12, 2019, Ms. Lawson began exhibiting signs of medical distress at home. She was transported to Atlanta Medical Center where she died on July 14, 2019, from complications of internal injuries sustained in the collision.
