The Cobb County Police Department Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Unit is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred in Precinct Three on Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at 12:41 a.m. on South Cobb Drive near Beech Road.

Per investigators, a pedestrian was northbound on South Cobb Drive in the left travel lane. A white 2018 Kia Forte was northbound on South Cobb Drive in the left travel lane. Due to darkness, the driver of the Kia did not see the pedestrian in the road. The Kia collided with the pedestrian. The driver remained on scene.

The pedestrian was identified as 41-year-old Paul Livenson of Marietta. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. Next of kin has been notified.

The driver of the Kia was identified as 27-year-old Jordan Gatling of Marietta. Mr. Gatling was not injured.

Investigators do not expect charges will be filed.
