Fatal Pedestrian Collision *UPDATE*

*UPDATE*

The Cobb County Medical Examiner’s Officer has positively identified the deceased as 29-year-old Edward M. Fowler of Douglasville. His family has been notified of his death.

Fatal Pedestrian Collision

The Cobb County Police Department Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Unit is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred in Precinct Two on Monday, July 29, 2019, at 2:27 a.m. on Interstate 20 westbound, west of Factory Shoals Road.

Per investigators, a white 2007 Freightliner tractor trailer was traveling westbound on I-20. A black 2007 Land Rover was also traveling westbound on I-20, in the same lane as the Freightliner. The Land Rover collided into the rear of the Freightliner’s trailer. The Land Rover pulled over into the left emergency lane due to disabling damage on the vehicle. The Freightliner continued west and exited onto Thornton Road.

The driver of the Land Rover exited the vehicle and attempted to cross I-20. He was struck by an unknown vehicle and then several additional vehicles.

The driver of the Freightliner returned to the scene after it turned around at Thornton Road.

The driver of the Freightliner was identified as 38-year-old David Jaworski Wilson of Montgomery, Alabama. He was not injured in the collision.

The driver of the Land Rover was deceased at the scene. The identity will be released after identification has been confirmed by the Cobb County Medical Examiner’s Office.
