Serious Injury Collision
The Cobb County Police Department Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) unit is investigating a serious injury collision that occurred on I-285 northbound south of Paces Ferry Road on August 22, 2019 at 12:22 p.m.
Per investigators, a red 2006 Chevrolet Colorado, being driven by 49-year-old Marko Stulic of Marietta, was northbound on I-285 in the second lane from the left. Mr. Stulic tried to change two lanes to the right but his vehicle struck the rear of red 2015 Kenworth truck tractor pulling a flatbed trailer in the third lane from the left as it slowed for traffic ahead of it. The tractor-trailer was being driven by 22-year-old Justin Osborne of Cumming.
After the front of the Chevrolet struck the rear of the tractor-trailer, it began a counter-clockwise spin before stopping and blocking the third and fourth lanes.
The force of the collision forced the tractor-trailer forward, and Mr. Osborne was able to bring it to a stop in the third lane without striking any other vehicles.
Mr. Stulic (Chevrolet driver) was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital with life threatening injuries.
Mr. Osborne was not seriously injured.
This collision remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the Cobb County Police Department at 770-499-3987.
