The Cobb County Police Department Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Unit is investigating a serious injury pedestrian collision that occurred in Precinct Three on Friday, October 4, 2019, at 9:38 p.m. on South Cobb Drive at Waldrep Circle.

Per investigators, a maroon 2002 Toyota Sienna taxi cab was travelling south on South Cobb Drive, in the right lane, approaching Waldrep Circle. A pedestrian was crossing South Cobb Drive in a westerly direction. The pedestrian entered the path of the Toyota. The front of the Toyota collided with the pedestrian. The driver stopped and remained on scene.

The pedestrian was identified as 59-year-old Jerry Grant of Marietta. He was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital with life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Toyota was identified as 55-year-old Juan Paz Garay of Marietta. Mr. Paz Garay was not injured in the collision.
