The Cobb County Police Department Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Unit is investigating a fatal vehicle collision that occurred in Precinct One on Monday, October 14, 2019, at 7:56 a.m. on Cobb Parkway at Black Acre Trail.

A black 2007 Honda CBR1000 was travelling south on Cobb Parkway approaching Black Acre Trail. A blue 2007 Mercedes ML350 was northbound on Cobb Parkway at Black Acre Trail. The driver of the Mercedes initiated a left turn, towards Black Acre Trail, and entered the path of the Honda. The front of the Honda collided with the right side of the Mercedes. The driver of the Honda separated from the motorcycle.

The driver of the Honda was identified as 25-year-old Marco Malvaez of Kennesaw. Mr. Malvaez was pronounced deceased at the scene as a result of the injuries sustained in the collision. Next of kin has been notified.

The driver of the Mercedes was identified as 17-year-old Rachel Tyre of Acworth. Ms. Tyre was not injured in the collision.
