Cobb County Police responded to a call of a person armed and a possible fight at 211 Spring Valley Road, Marietta, GA 30060 at 5:44 p.m. on Saturday, December 21st. The first responding officer encountered the suspect, later identified as 32-year-old Juan Antonio Gonzalez, who while attempting to flee the scene fired several gunshots toward the officer, striking the officer’s patrol car once. The suspect was soon apprehended by additional officers following a brief vehicle pursuit that ended when the suspect crashed on South Cobb Drive near Highlands Parkway. No officers were injured during the apprehension.

When officers entered the home of the original fight call at 211 Spring Valley Road, they found one deceased victim, 38-year-old Oralia Melo Meza. A 16-year-old male victim was also found and transported to a local hospital for treatment of a non-life threatening gunshot to the arm.

Juan Antonio Gonzalez has been charged with Felony Murder, two counts of Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Assault on a Peace Officer, Felony Fleeing, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime.
