Victim/Witness Assistance
The Cobb County Police Department receives numerous reports throughout the year that necessitate assistance from the Cobb County District Attorney’s Office and Office of the Solicitor General Victim/Witness Units.
The purpose of these services is to enhance the treatment of victims/witnesses and survivors of crime and non-criminal situations by providing the assistance and services necessary to speed their physical and emotional recovery. Additionally, these services are to support and aid victims as they continue to interact with the criminal justice system.
It is the policy of the Cobb County Police Department for officers to provide victims with the incident case number, steps to take if threatened by the suspect, and with a pamphlet on the Georgia Crime Victim Bill of Rights. The pamphlet contains information for victim/witness services such as counseling, medical attention, compensation programs, emergency financial assistance, and victim advocacy.
