The Cobb County Police Department’s Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Unit is investigating a fatal traffic collision that occurred at Shiloh Road at Walton Green Way, on Wednesday, June 24, 2020, at 4:33 p.m. 

According to investigators, a silver 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 traveled north on Shiloh Road as a white 2000 Lexus RX300 initiated a left turn from Shiloh Green Apartment Homes to travel south on Shiloh Road. The Lexus RX300 entered the path of the Dodge Ram 1500, and the front of the Dodge Ram 1500 collided with the left side of the Lexus RX300. The Lexus RX300 rolled over onto its right side and came to rest.  

Cobb County Fire Department personnel extricated the driver of the Lexus RX300 from the vehicle.

The driver of Dodge Ram 1500, 24-year-old Anthony Cardoso of Kennesaw, was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The passenger of the Dodge Ram 1500, 17-year-old Alexander Cardoso of Kennesaw, was not injured. 

The driver of the Lexus RX300, 21-year-old Heather Blackwelder of Cumming, was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital with life-threatening injuries and later succumb to her injuries. Next of kin has been notified.
