On Monday, August 17, 2020, at approximately 8:03 p.m., the Cobb County Police Department Precinct Two uniform patrol officers responded to 555 Scotsman Drive, Austell, Georgia, in reference to a Police and Emergency Medical Service (EMS) request. On arrival, officers located an unresponsive male with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. 

The victim was identified as 23-year-old Brukerion Jones of Austell. Brukerion Jones was transported by ambulance to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Next of kin has been notified. 

Through investigation, the Cobb County Police Department Crimes against Persons (CAP) Unit determined, Brukerion Jones and 17-year-old Kittrell Jones of Austell, intended to rob a male. During the commission of the armed robbery, Brukerion Jones was fatally wounded.  

The male was identified as 21-year-old Alejandro Resendez of Marietta. The whereabouts of Alejandro Resendez is currently unknown.
