Fatal Traffic Collision (10.20.20) w/UPDATE

The driver of the Chevrolet Camaro, David F. Exume, has been charged with Operating Unsafe Vehicle (M), Reckless Driving (M), and Vehicular Homicide - 1st Degree (F). Fume was taken into custody last night by the Cobb County Sheriff's Office.

Fatal Traffic Collision
The Cobb County Police Department’s Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Unit is assisting the Powder Springs Police Department with a fatal traffic collision that occurred within the city limits of Powder Springs (Powder Springs Road at Forest Hill Road) on Monday, October 19, 2020, at 4:00 p.m.
According to investigators, a silver 2009 Chrysler PT Cruiser was turning left from the driveway of 3865 Powder Springs Road to travel west on Powder Springs Road while a black 2015 Chevrolet Camaro was traveling east on Powder Springs Road. The Chrysler PT Cruiser entered the path of the Chevrolet Camaro, and the front of the Chevrolet Camaro collided with the left front of the Chrysler PT Cruiser. The Chevrolet Camaro was redirected into the eastbound lanes, where it collided with a red 2013 Kia Optima. The Chevrolet Camaro then continued east and came to rest in the eastbound lanes of Powder Springs Road.
The driver of the Chrysler PT Cruiser, 54-year-old Ellen J. Shoulders of Douglasville, was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased. Next of kin has been notified. A three-year-old female passenger in the Chrysler PT Cruiser was transported to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta – Scottish Rite Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Chevrolet Camaro, 20-year-old David F. Exume of Powder Springs, did not require medical attention on scene.
The driver of the Kia Optima, 49-year-old Caritina Valladares of Powder Springs, was transported to Wellstar Cobb Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
