Serious Injury Collision

The Cobb County Police Department Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Unit is investigating a serious injury traffic collision that occurred on Kemp Road west of Blackwater Way on Sunday, November 15, 2020, at 7:13 a.m. 

According to investigators, a silver 2017 Yamaha FZ09 motorcycle traveled eastbound on Kemp Road approaching Blackwater Way. While negotiating a right curve, the operator failed to maintain his lane of travel, and the Yamaha exited the roadway at the northern edge, entering the grass lawn of 1870 Blackwater Way. Once on the grass lawn, both the operator and passenger separated from the Yamaha as it then continued onto the grass lawn of 1869 Blackwater Way. The Yamaha came to a final uncontrolled rest on its left side, with the front directed south. 

The operator of the Yamaha FZ09 motorcycle, 24-year-old Devin L. Baker of Marietta, was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The passenger of the Yamaha, 19-year-old Walton Wade of Palmetto, was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital with serious injuries.
