The driver of the Ford Mustang, 42-year-old Tricia Tinch of Mableton, was fatally injured and pronounced deceased on the scene. Her next of kin has been notified.

Fatal Traffic Collision

The Cobb County Police Department's Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Unit is investigating a serious injury collision that occurred on Mableton Parkway at 6660 Mableton Parkway on Saturday, January 30, 2021, at 5:03 p.m.

According to investigators, a white Chevrolet Tahoe traveled south on Mableton Parkway, approaching the private drive of 6660 Mableton Parkway. A blue Ford Mustang was attempting to turn left out of the private drive at 6660 Mableton Parkway. The Mustang initiated its left turn and entered the path of the Tahoe. The front of the Tahoe collided with the left side of the Mustang. The Mustang was redirected east as it rotated in a counter-clockwise direction. The Mustang then came to final uncontrolled rest on the eastern shoulder of Mableton Parkway oriented west. The Tahoe was redirected southeast as it rotated in a counter-clockwise direction. The Tahoe then began to roll until it came to uncontrolled rest on its wheels on the eastern shoulder of Mableton Parkway southeast of the Mustang.

The driver of the Chevrolet Tahoe, 18-year-old John Rangel-Gonzalez of Mableton, suffered minor injuries. Rangel-Gonzalez was taken into custody on the scene and charged with First Degree Vehicular Homicide, Reckless Driving, Speeding, and Driving Without a License.The passenger of the Chevrolet Tahoe, 20-year-old Reynaldo Lackey of Mableton, was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
