Cobb County Police officers responded to a report of persons shot at 904 Peel Castle Lane in Austell on Sunday, February 14, 2021 at 8:29 p.m. Officers located two victims, 31-year-old

Dreyon Mathis and an eight-year-old male, suffering from gunshot wounds. A third male (suspect), 27-year-old Jermery Mathis, was also located with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Dreyon Mathis succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The juvenile victim was transported to a local hospital, but he later succumbed to his injuries and passed away at the hospital. The suspected shooter, Dreyon Mathis, was transported to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition.
