Smart Doorbell Cams

Your home’s safety is always top of mind. Video doorbells are the extra set of eyes and ears needed to protect your home. You’ll always know who and what is at your door – even when you’re away. Today’s high-tech features make the video doorbell not just ‘nice to have,’ but a ‘must have’ for a safe and secure home.

One of the most important features you’ll need access to is activity notifications. This will allow you to be alerted in the event someone stops by or is lurking on your property. Generally, you’ll be able to view live streaming footage of your front door or review a video clip.

These video clips can help your local police department solve crimes at your residence as well as crimes that may happen within the camera’s view.  The camera can also be registered with Cobb Police to allow police to know where cameras are located around crime scenes.

These cameras have been utilized in the past by police with great results.

Community Affairs Officers for Precinct 2

The Community Affairs Unit seeks to effectively engage the community and citizens to strengthen Public Safety and community partnerships, facilitate a joint effort in solving problems which affect our community, and foster enhanced trust, communication, transparency, and mutual respect. Officers work with homeowner’s associations, community organizations, advocacy groups, public and private schools, faith-based organizations, and individual residents to promote partnerships that are mutually beneficial.

As a result of these working partnerships, the officers are able to develop pro-active crime fighting projects that are jointly undertaken by Department personnel and citizens.

Officer Mike Hill is assigned as the Community Affairs officers serving the community in Precinct 2.

Your Precinct 2 Heroes at Work

Armed Robbery

On 2/4/2021, officers responded to an armed robbery.  Three males robbed a citizen at gunpoint, stole her purse, then fled in an orange Dodge Challenger. Officers located the vehicle, and it refused to stop. The vehicle crashed a short time later in Atlanta. Two of the three suspects were located.

Homicide Suspect Arrested

Precinct 2 Officers responded to an area in the south side of the precinct to search for a homicide suspect out of Memphis Police Department. The car from the lookout was located in a Family Dollar store. The officers observed a female that matched the description of the homicide suspect crossing the street from the Dollar General. They approached the suspect and placed her in custody without incident.

Kidnapping Arrest

On 02/11/21 at 12:48 a.m., officers responded to a fight call between a male and female. The male fled on foot as the officers approached, and they gave chase. Based on a subsequent investigation, officers realized the female had been abducted by the male against her will. She had visible injuries on her head and narcotics were found on the scene. A search warrant was secured for the residence. The suspect was charged with Kidnapping, Battery, Obstruction and Possession with Intent.  He was also wanted on a Parole Violation Warrant. 

Cobb County Camera Registry

The Cobb County Police Camera Registration program is a police/community video partnership that operates on a voluntary basis with homeowners, neighborhoods and business owners who own private video surveillance systems. We encourage both businesses and residents to register their cameras online by completing the form below.

This program is intended to let our officers know where cameras are active in the county in case a crime occurs. It is not intended for active surveillance, and officers will not have direct access to homeowners' cameras. Those who register a camera will be contacted if a crime occurs in the vicinity of that camera. Information provided by residents and businesses will be maintained in a secure database.
