Cobb County Police Explorer Award Ceremony (Dec.12,2018)
The Cobb County Police Explorers held their 13th Annual Awards Ceremony on Monday, December 10, 2018 at the Cobb County Public Safety Training Center. This year the Explorers were recognized for winning their tenth consecutive Georgia State Championship, tenth consecutive Metro Atlanta Championship for Explorers, and finishing with a 2nd place trophy from the National Competition at Purdue University.
During the program, many of the Explorers received ribbons, awards, and plaques for their accomplishments during this past year. Of note was the Life Saving Award that was presented to Explorer Corporal Mario Alexander, and Explorer Chief Leah Barton was recognized for her service as the 2016-2018 Vice National Youth Representative for Law Enforcement Exploring. Many of the Explorers in the program received accolades for their community service hours (over 3,000 combined service hours), and time was set aside in the program to recognize past Explorers who were part of state teams which led to a decade of state championships.
Director Heaton, Chief Register, Deputy Chief Cox, Deputy Chief VanHoozer, Deputy Chief Adcock, and members of the command staff were present to show their support for the Explorer program and congratulate the Explorers on their accomplishments. Without the continued support the Explorer program has experienced and the hard work and dedication of these young men and women, this program would not be nearly as successful as it has been.
