Cobb County Police Receive Donations From Cobb County Public Safety Foundation
Cobb County Police set to receive two donations from Cobb County Public Safety Foundation (CCPSF): one that will benefit the public with regard to reducing crime and apprehending criminals, and the other that will benefit officers seeking assistance dealing with stresses that inherently accompany the job of policing.
CCPSF raised funds to purchase two (2) Flock License Plate Recognition (LPR) cameras. Flock LPR’s have been in use by the department (and several neighborhoods in Cobb County) with much success, helping the department identify and recover stolen vehicles as well as identify and apprehend wanted persons. These two new LPR’s will add to the department’s ability to continue to combat crime in neighborhoods experiencing higher volumes of crime than others.
The second donation Cobb County Police received is funded by an initial donation of $16,000 from Metro Atlanta Ambulance to CCPSF. This donation is earmarked for a formal counseling program for police officers in the county. On a day-to-day basis police officers deal with extremely stressful situations and are subjected to horrors most people won’t ever have to experience. Coupled with the normal stressors of life, this can prove detrimental to relationships with family and loved ones, and can lead to even more serious and harmful outcomes. This donation will give officers the opportunity to receive counseling services to assist when needed.
